    COVINGTON, La. – A funeral Mass for Dr. John J. Davis Jr. will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mandeville Cemetery.

    Dr. Davis Jr., 86, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2011. Dr. Davis graduated from LSU Medical School in 1948. He was an associate pathologist at Mercy Hospital in New Orleans (1949-67) and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War at Fort Chaffee Arkansas as chief of Pathology Service.

    From 1967-02, he served as medical director of pathology at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, Miss., and retired to Mandeville, La., in 2004. 

    He was the beloved husband of 62 years to Mary F. Davis; loving father of Jacqueline Davis, Joan Davis, Sandra Quilio, John Davis, III (and wife Faye), Sylvia Davis, Susan Wyrick M.D (and husband Kevin) and Michael Davis (and wife Karen); son of the late Gladys Whitehead Davis and John Jennings Davis; brother of Winnie Schilling, Albert Davis, Dorothy Davis and the late Gladys Fowler, Esther Smith, Richard Davis and Elsie Pacht; grandfather of Joseph Quilio (and wife Melissa), Ann Quilio, Jennifer Wyrick, Stephen Wyrick, Jillian Davis, Cassie Davis, Kaitlin Davis and Mallory Davis. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren.

    The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of St. Tammany.

    Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to Mass time.
