The Meridian High School Youth Advisory Council donated $400 to the current United Way Campaign on Monday.
The students raised the money by selling hearts that were displayed on the United Way wall for $1 during lunch for a week in December.
The Youth Advisory Council is the youth leadership component of GEAR UP MS (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs). The focus of the Youth Advisory Council is to improve their school and communities though positive initiatives. These members serve as GEAR UP Ambassadors within their schools and communities as well.
