Superintendent’s statement on MHS fight

This is the statement issued by Dr. Alvin Taylor, superintendent of the Meridian Public School District, concerning the fight that broke out this morning on the campus of Meridian High School. Officials have said as many as six juveniles were taken into custody by MPD officers in connection with the incient “Unfortunately, there was a physical altercation involving students at Meridian High School this morning. All teachers and administrators were present at their duty posts throughout the campus, and they were able to get the situation under control quickly. The incident stems from events that happened off-campus. I want to assure students, parents, and the community that the consequences for those involved will be swift and severe. We will have safe and orderly schools, so there is zero tolerance for this type of behavior at Meridian High School or any other school in our district.”
