Quitman was all business Saturday as it blew past homestanding Stringer 13-1 on a scorching day.

    Relanda McFarland and Hannah Hampton had three hits apiece, while Mallory Lee accounted for 4 RBIs on the day. Tori Dew, Ashley Downing, Angel Johnson, Megan McIlwain and Kallie Belcher all had two hits each.

    The Panthers belted out 18 hits on the day and will travel to take on Petal on Thursday.

    After two scoreless innings, Clarkdale pulled away from host Northwest Rankin on Saturday, scoring once in the third, twice in the fourth, four times in the fifth and twice more in the sixth.

    Sarah Harris led four Bulldogs with three hits, followed by Amber Spann, Alex Smith and Logan Bozeman. Molly McLeod earned the win, upping her mark to 2-0. Clarkdale visits Newton County on Tuesday.

    Newton County heated its bats up early Saturday morning as they ripped Choctaw Central by 10 runs in their first game of the Meridian Slow-Pitch Festival.

    Hannah Mae got the win on the mound for the Cougars.

    Emily Davis went 3-4 with a double, triple, four runs scored and two RBIs. Shelby Bishop had two hits including three runs scored and two RBIs, while Jesse Parker had three hits and four RBIs.

    Raven Combey, the losing pitcher, had a double for Choctaw Central.

    The Cougars showed no sign of fatigue in their third and final game of the Meridian Slow-Pitch Festival Saturday at Northeast Park. Newton County jumped all over Southeast Lauderdale and took the victory via run rule.

    Meagan Higginbotham (3-1) earned the victory on the mound for NCHS.

    Davis again went 3-4 with two RBIs while Ashton Lampton went 2-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Bishop went 2-2 in the contest.

    Newton County improves to 6-1 on the season and hosts No. 2 Clarkdale Tuesday night in Decatur.

    The Union Yellowjackets earned the win against Meridian on Saturday morning at Northeast Park as Brett Whitlock pitched a four-hit shutout to get the win.

    Casey Cherry, Tori Holsen, Delaina Wilson and Taylor Holmes all had two hits apiece in the contest to spark the UHS offense.

    Meridian High wasted little time in rebounding after a loss earlier in the day to Union at the Meridian Slow-Pitch Festival Saturday at Northeast Park. The Wildcats breezed by the Tigers en route to a 17-run victory  via the run rule.

    MeMe Huff got the win on the mound for the ‘Cats and improved her record to 2-1 on the season.

    Timorie Edmonds homered and Lebresha Warren added a triple in the contest.

    Meridian visits Starkville on Tuesday.

    Southeast Lauderdale grabbed its lone win of Saturday’s Meridian Slow-Pitch Festival by beating up on Hattiesburg at Northeast Park.

    Taylor Powell was the winning pitcher for SEL and also led the offensive charge with two singles. Bri Roulier, Miranda Chatham, Marissa Boutwell, Nancy Williams and Katy Dawson all had one hit apiece in the contest.

    Southeast scored in four of the five innings played.

    The Knights scored seven in the first inning and three in the second before cruising to the five-inning win in their second game at the Slow-Pitch Festival.

    CC Lawn led West with three hits, including a double, while Hayleigh Moffett doubled and drove in three runs. Alanna Tedder, Tori Taylor and Haley Logan all added two hits, while Emily Pogue doubled in a run and Alexis Gage had two RBIs.

    The Knights continued their early starts Saturday, scoring five in the first inning against No. 1 New Hope. West then added two more in the second.

    Ashley Adams and Taylor each had two RBIs on two hits for West, while Pogue doubled and drove in one run. Lyndsie Fountain also had an RBI for the Knights, who improved to 5-2.

    The Knights host Southeast Lauderdale on Tuesday.

    The Bullogs scored three in the first before pulling away late with four in the seventh in their tournament opener Saturday.

    Bethany Volking led Enterprise with four singles, while Randa Mathis singled, doubled and homered to drive in four runs. Haleigh Harper, Harley Smith and Blair Hennington all had two singles, with Hennington driving in two runs.

    Smith earned the win for Enterprise.

    Enterprise scored in each of the first four innings, while allowing a lone tally in the fifth.

    Mathis blasted her second home run of the day, a three-run shot, while Smith had three singles and two RBIs. Hennington added two hits and an RBI.

    Harper picked up the win for the Bulldogs.

    The Bulldogs finished off their tournament sweep by hammering the host Hornets. Enterprise rallied from a 2-0 deficit with one run in the fourth and four in the fifth. The Bulldogs then tacked on 11 in the fifth for the run-rule win.

    Volking had two hits and an RBI, while Morgan Porter hit a grand slam and added a single and double for five RBIs. Smith added a single, double and RBI and Hennington doubled twice and drove in a run. Erica Taylor added a single, double and RBI and Blakely Riley had two singles for the 4-0 Bulldogs.

    Enterprise visits Northeast Lauderdale on Tuesday.

    The Cougars scored in five of six innings to blast host Union on Thursday, allowing the Yellowjackets just two runs in the sixth.

    Brackeen hit a two-run home run for Newton County, while Higginbotham and Savannah Gates had three hits each. Shea Alexander and Davis each had two hits, with Alexander adding four RBIs and Davis doubling. RoNeisha Brown had two RBIs for the Cougars.

    Holsen led Union with two hits and the two RBIs. Ebony Buckley added a double.
