To those who may not know Allayne Harvey very well they may mistake her as the quintessential dumb blonde.

It may be because she is perky, bubbly, high-spirited and energetic.

But don’t make that mistake. Even though she has heard every blonde joke ever written and regularly laughs at them, she is not dumb. She is just full of life and enjoys being a little dingy at times.

“I’m more intelligent than I look,” said Harvey with a twinkle in her blue eyes. “But I really don’t mind people getting the idea I am a little off my rocker. I play to it a lot. It’s fun but I know who I really am.”

Who she really is, is a newly married mother of two boys. Harvey, who just recently returned from her honeymoon with her new husband, Randy Harvey, an airman at Key Field with the 186th Air Refueling Wing, said she is lucky to have found the greatest man in the world.

Harvey said before she met Randy, she really couldn’t see her future. Her life — and she was comfortable with the way it was — centered around her two children. Still, something was missing and as she found out, that something was a person she could spend the rest of her life with.

“I realized I had set the standard of the next man I’d meet way too high,” Harvey said. “No one could have filled that impossible list. Randy showed me that I had to re-evaluate my expectations and as it turns out he became the perfect fit for me. It wasn’t that I’m settling for less with Randy. On the contrary, I was being unreasonable and he showed me he was the one. I didn’t really know what I was missing until Randy came along and I love him dearly.”

Their trip to Hawaii for their honeymoon was filled with natural beauty. Harvey, an avid fitness practitioner, enjoyed the mountains and exquisite beauty of the islands. She said they also went to historic locations such as Pearl Harbor, which she said moved her greatly.

On the home front, Harvey is a beautician at Bill Gordon and Son’s Barber Shop on Ninth Street across from the main post office. She said the Gordon’s have been great to work with saying they immediately adopted her.

“They have made me feel like I’m part of the family,” said Harvey. “I can never thank Bill, Dennis and Wayne enough. They are great to work with.”

Harvey said riding horses with Randy is a favorite pastime. She said her mother owns a ranch in DeKalb and there have always been a lot of horses and cattle around. She said she is more than content to be a loving wife to Randy, raise her kids and enjoy the occasional horseback ride.

But there is something else underneath it all.

Harvey said she has always wanted to put all those blonde jokes to good use.

“I always wanted to be a standup comic,” she said belting out that infectious laugh. “I mean, I know all the blonde jokes so I’ve got a great deal of material already.”
