Letters to the Editor: A Right Time for Something to Go Wrong

Recently after sunset, my power went off. Down the line my neighbor’s security lights were still on. This issue happened before, so I went to bed. That time EMEPA reset the breaker on the pole the next morning. Saturday, the next day their crew arrived. They told me that they came the previous evening. But with my place completely blacked out and, unable to contact me by phone, they left. A reasonable decision because they had determined the problem was not with the breaker at the pole as last time. Besides it would have been unreasonable to expect them to do at night what they did the next day. What I observed Saturday while the crew worked was complete professionalism. They located and repaired a break in the underground cable and replaced the transformer. Then Saturday night and Sunday it rained. When you see their equipment and crews remind yourself how important they are to our standard of living.
