The Meridian store closed after Goody’s Family Clothing went bankrupt and liquidated all of their stores. In 2009, the Goody’s name was purchased by Houston-based Stage Stores through the Goody’s bankruptcy auction.

Along with the Goody’s and Stage chains, Stage Stores owns the Palais Royal, Bealls, and Peebles chains.

Stage Stores began using the Goody’s name in select markets after purchasing the chain, and is currently advertising for employees in the Meridian area. The company owns 770 stores in 39 states across the U.S., with approximately 13,000 employees.
