Johnny Quitman Trest

    Services for Johnny Trest will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Pastor Dr. Michael Bird and Brother Wayne Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.

    Mr. Trest, 81, of Suqualena, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at his residence. Johnny was born October 24, 1934, to Oscar C. and Mary E. Trest in Hickory. He graduated from Hickory High School and later joined the Marines. He was the former owner of Trest and Clopton Insurance Agency. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church and a member of the Suqualena Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed his church and the fellowship of his Masonic friends. He loved to golf, but most of all, he loved the time spent with his family.

    Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Betty M. Trest; daughters, Janet Trest, Johnnie Lynn Randall, Kaye Gillis (Steve) and Leslie Trest; grandchildren, Jamey Randall (Liza), Jonathan Gillis (Rachel), Shari Davis (Douglas), Kris Randall (Jenni), Justin Gillis, Kelly Harper, Sean Skaar, Evan Skarr, Andrew Uriell and Elizabeth Uriell.   He also adored his eight great-grandchildren.

    He was preceeded in death by his parents, Oscar and Mary Trest; and two infant brothers.
