William E. (Mr. Bill) Stinson

   Services for Bill Stinson will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dan Lanier officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

    Mr. Bill, 81, of Bailey, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at his residence.

He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., and joined the Navy at 16 and served two years in Vietnam. He was in the Korean Conflict and was an Honor Guard at John F. Kennedy’s funeral, serving 28 years and retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. He then retired a second time after 20 years with the Civil Service at the Meridian Naval Base. He always tried to help answer questions about the military. Mr. Bill then worked at Sam’s Club as a greeter. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve, Disabled American Veterans and Veteran of Foreign Wars. He was a loving, devoted husband, father and grandfather who was loved by everybody and never met a stranger.

    Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Barbara D. Stinson of Bailey; sons, William R. Stinson (Laura) of Jacksonville, Fla., Randall A. Stinson (Kris) of Spring, Texas, and Allan D. Stinson (Heather) of Bailey; daughter, Melisa D. King (John) of Bailey; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Matt Stinson of Philadelphia, PA; mother-in-law, Katherine Daniels of Bailey; brother-in-law, Dan Ward (Glenda) of Bailey; and sister-in-law, Shirley Turner of Bailey.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; and seven brothers and sisters.

    The family requests memorials be made to the Disabled American Veterans Unit # 56 or the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 12124.
