3 Ways to spice up your grilled cheese routine

Tuesday is National Grilled Cheese Day, so go ahead and celebrate. But don’t celebrate by just putting together your regular old grilled cheese sandwich — spice it up a little bit. Try one made with cheddar and mozzarella. Try a pepperoni pizza grilled cheese. Or try a buffalo chicken one. They’re all delicious!

Cheddar and Mozzarella Grilled Cheese Sandwich

2 slices of bread

2 tablespoons of butter, softened 

1/3 cup cheddar cheese, grated

1/4 cup mozzarella cheese, grated or finely chopped 

Mix the butter with a generous pinch of the grated cheese. Then spread this mixture on one side of each piece of bread. Place on butter-mixture side down onto a preheated frying pan on medium heat. Then top with remaining cheeses and place the other slice of bread, butter side up, on top. Cook for five minutes, then flip over and cook an additional five minutes.

Pepperoni Pizza Grilled Cheese

2 slices of bread 

butter, softened

3 slices of mozzarella cheese 

7 pepperoni slices

1/8 cup of marinara sauce

Butter one side of each slice of bread. Place one piece butter-side down into a preheated pan on medium heat. Place the mozzarella cheese on top, then the pepperonis. Then spread out the marinara sauce on top. Top with the remaining slice of bread, butter side up. Cook for five minutes, then flip and cook for an additional five minutes. Then enjoy.

Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese

2 slices of bread

1/2 cup shredded, cooked chicken

1/4 cup buffalo or hot sauce

1/4 cup blue cheese crumbles

2 slices of mozzarella cheese

butter, softened

Mix together the chicken and buffalo sauce. Butter one side of each slice of bread. Place one piece butter side down into a preheated pan on medium heat. Place buffalo chicken on top, then blue cheese, then mozzarella cheese. Top with the remaining slice of bread, butter side up. Cook for five minutes then flip and cook for an additional five minutes.
