A Meridian man was arrested Tuesday afternoon by the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department and charged with burglary of an inhabited dwelling on Valley Road.
Ryan Anthony Jackson, 19, of 5531 Gene Carr Road, was charged after he became involved in an alleged altercation between his mother and the homeowner, according to Lauderdale County Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun.

“This is not your normal kind of burglary,” Calhoun said. “His mom was allowed to move into a house. She was then asked to leave, but wouldn’t leave. During this time, the son allegedly broke into the house and stole some household items.”
Calhoun said Jackson’s mother, Tina Nicole Jackson, 43, was charged with trespassing, simple assault and petit larceny. She had an earlier warrant out for her for burglary.
Ryan Jackson remained in custody at the Lauderdale County Detention Facility Wednesday, where bond was set at $50,000.
“This case was unusual in that the victim allowed a person to move into her house trying to be helpful,” Calhoun said. “And her kindness was met with an individual stealing items out of her house.”
