Jewel Lynn Shirley

Jewel Lynn Shirley of Southeast Lauderdale High School has been selected for the 2016 Derek Pouncey Memorial Scholarship and Award from the Mississippi Alliance for Arts Education.

Shirley has been involved in theatre, music and softball at Southeast Lauderdale High School as well as singing with the Meridian Symphony Choir and the Mississippi Baptist All-State Youth Choir and Orchestra; and involvement in Stage 2 theatre training group for teens. She has been a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, BETA Club, Student Council, and Leadership Lauderdale Youth. Jewel Lynn leads by example and her oral contributions often set the tone for class discussions and her written contributions are insightful and thorough. She will attend William Carey University in the fall and major in music therapy.
