Nanih Waiya man charged with enticing child over social media

The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department reported arresting a man for enticing a child over social media.

Deputies have charged Edward Lee Stevens, 40, of Nanih Waiya, with enticement of a child to produce a visual depiction of a sexual nature after a mother reported a man contacting her daughter on social media, according to Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun.

The incident initially occured in July, but culminated with an inappropiate photo sent by the man to the child, who is under the age of 16, Calhoun said. 

Bond for Stevens has been set at $20,000.
