David and Jill Hammes of Bailey announce the engagement of their daughter, Sarah Grace, to Luke Andrew Peterson, son of Maria Tomaso Peterson and Harold “Pete” Peterson of Starkville.

The wedding will be Saturday, July 8, 2017, at 5 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Starkville.

Miss Hammes is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jerome N. Hammes of Menomonee Falls, Wisc., and the late Mr. and Mrs. John P. Ratcliff of Obadiah.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Meridian High School, and a 2015 graduate of Mississippi State University, where she received a bachelor of arts degree in history.

While attending MSU, she was a member of the MSU Women’s Cross Country and Track teams and the SEC Freshman Women’s Cross Country Team.

Miss Hammes currently attends MSU, where she is pursuing a bachelor of science degree in kinesiology.

Mr. Peterson is the grandson of Mr. Bud Tomaso and the late Mrs. Angela Tomaso of Starkville, and the late Mr. and Mrs Harold Peterson of Portland, N.D.

The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of Starkville High School and a 2013 graduate of Mississippi State University, where he received a bachelor of science degree in aerospace engineering.

While attending MSU, Mr. Peterson was a member of the Mississippi State Space Cowboys and Sigma Gamma Tau fraternity.

Mr. Peterson is a doctoral candidate with the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Mississippi State University.

Following a honeymoon to Napa Valley, Calif., the couple will reside in Starkville.
