- Whitney Downard / The Merdian StarMetro Ambulance dispatcher Angel Naylor has two children, both basketball players who've played since the age of six, whose games she watches in her downtime.
Name: Angel Naylor.
Age: 36.
Job Title/Department: Dispatcher.
Years as an officer? 13.
Why did you choose to become a dispatcher?
I was interested in pursuing a job in the medical field.
Do you have any family members in the field?
Yes, my cousins Michelle Jimerson and Andrea Naylor are both dispatchers.
What has been your most gratifying experience as a dispatcher?
Knowing that the outcome of a call ended up good.
Would you encourage one of your children to pursue a career as a dispatcher?
I would stand behind my children in whatever career choice they made.
What would you have done if you had not become a dispatcher?
I would have continued my education to become a nurse.
When not working, what are your interests?
Spending time with family, sporting events for my children, sleeping, and reading urban fiction. My daughter just graduated and my son is going into the ninth grade and they’ve been playing basketball since they were six.
Tell us something about you people would be surprised to learn?
I am an avid NBA fan. The (Cleveland) Cavaliers are my first pick, Golden State (Warriors) is my second. I guess I should say I’m a Lebron fan. So if they’re against Lebron, I want Lebron to win.
