An Alabama man died in a pedestrian accident Monday night on Highway 19 south of Meridian.

Jessie Shane Pruitt, 38, died around 10 p.m. after a vehicle struck him on Highway 19, near Powell Road, according to Mississippi Highway Patrol Sgt. Andy West.

The driver of the southbound 2008 Chevy, John Quigley, 20, told Mississippi Highway Patrol that Pruitt, of Gilbert Town, was struck with the front right corner of his vehicle.

West said the case is under investigation and didn’t have any additional details.

No charges have been filed.
