Hundreds of job seekers attended job fairs at two area community colleges recently. In Meridian, many people flooded the MCC-Riley Workforce Development Center as they sought to find a great job at the 15th Annual Job Fair and Health Expo hosted by Meridian Community College and the Radio People. This was the first year the fair was held at the MCC-Riley Workforce Development Center.

Algix was among the 36 vendors that accepted applications and conducted interviews throughout the day.

Job seekers varied from students, to the unemployed, to the employed looking for a better job.

Shannon Coleman, MCC’s Job Placement/Career Center Specialist, said “We are excited to offer this opportunity to our students and our community. Many of our students are completing their programs of study and will be graduating in May. This is a great step for them to network with area Human Resource Managers and Recruiters to see what career opportunities await them. This is our 15th Annual Spring Job Fair and we had 36 companies who participated. We believe it creates a WIN/WIN/WIN for all involved!”

Thirty-six employers took applications and conducted interviews, including Anderson Regional Health System, City of Meridian, Mississippi Department of Corrections, and Robinson Electric Supply. Admission to the fair was free to job-seekers. Meanwhile, about 450 job seekers attended the annual East Mississippi Job Fair Thursday at East Mississippi Community College in the Golden Triangle campus Lyceum. About 60 employers were represented at the job fair, including area manufacturers such as Steel Dynamics, PACCAR, Yokohama Tire and Air Bus Helicopter. Many job candidates were interviewed, while others dropped off resumes and filled out applications.
