MCC students recognized during Awards Night ceremonies

Meridian Community College students’ outstanding academic and athletic achievements were spotlighted during the college’s recent annual awards program.
This year, a ceremony for University Transfer Awards took place on April 22, and Career and Technical Awards Night was held the following night on April 23.
During the University Transfer ceremony, MCC sophomore Thiago Martins-Fasano received the Ivy Outstanding Student Award, given to the most outstanding graduating sophomore active on campus and has positively impacted the school and surrounding area. Martins-Fasano, who holds a 4.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale, plans to study at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma and pursue a medical career. While at MCC, he has been a member of the Ivy League Recruiters, captain of the Eagles Soccer Team, a residential assistant in Elliott Hall and a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the international academic honor society.
Also receiving accolades were MCC Foundation award winners Emma Watson, the Royalty Education Scholarship; Thiago Martins-Fasano, Lucile Reisman Rosenbaum Memorial Scholarship; and Bradon Epting, Robert F. Cochran Memorial Scholarship. Ricky Higginbotham received the Sammy Broadhead Memorial Scholarship.
