Tennessee Williams Scholars Panel set at MUW

The Mississippi Humanities Council and the Southern Women’s Institute at the Mississippi University for Women in Columbus will present several events in conjunction with the annual Tennessee Williams Tribute.

Here’s what’s scheduled:

n 2 p.m.-4 p.m., Friday, Sept. 8 (Carrier Chapel) — Scholars’ Lectures and Discussions with: Ruth Moon Kempher, poet and owner of Kings Estate Press, St. Augustine, Fla.; Milly S. Barranger, Alumni Distinguished Professor of English, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and Nancy Lippincott Ashley, MUW Alumna, Mississippi ambassador of arts and letters.

n 10 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Sept. 9 (Carrier Chapel) — Scholar’s Lectures and Discussions with: Margaret Bradham Thornton, writer and independent scholar, Bedminster, N.J.; James Del Prince, Associate Professor Retail Floristry Management, Mississippi State University, on the use of flowers in Williams’ works; Kenneth Holditch, Research Professor Emeritus, University of New Orleans, and Founding Editor of The Tennessee Williams Journal.

n 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 9 (Nissan Auditorium) — A showing of the film, “Baby Doll,” starring Eli Wallach and Carol Baker, with commentary by Dr. Colby Kullman, Professor of English, University of Mississippi.
