What is a multiple listing service?

A multiple listing service, or MLS, is one whereby Realtors, who are members, cooperate with each other by sharing listings of properties in order to provide a better service to buyers and sellers of real estate.
This service allows a seller to list property with only one MLS office, but receive the cooperative efforts of all MLS offices in selling a house or property. It costs a seller no more to list with a MLS office than a non-MLS office.
A buyer can work with a real estate agent in whom they have confidence and see all properties that are on the market. The agent gets to know the buyer’s needs, likes and dislikes — making the search process more efficient.
The Meridian Board of Realtors provides a Multiple Listing Service which is strongly supported by the vast majority of local real estate offices. Also, the local board is unique in that it offers a tour of homes for newly listed properties on a weekly basis so that all Realtors have an opportunity to view the homes. This greatly increases the exposure for the seller.
So when selling or purchasing property, consider seeking out a member office of the Meridian Board of Realtors Multiple Listing Service.
