World Series Stickball in full swing

CHOCTAW — While the main attraction in the 57th annual Choctaw Indian Fair World Series Stickball is expected to be the men’s division, the first two days of play have belonged to the women.
The two women’s teams to advance to Tuesday’s 6 p.m. championship game are Tali Ohoyo and the Lady Warriors. Tali Ohoyo has beaten Oka Homma Ohoyo 3-0 and Natives 3-2, while the Lady Warriors have knocked off Bihhi Ayasha 4-0 and Beaver Dam 7-0.
The championship in the Men’s Over 35 Division, set for Tuesday at 7 p.m., is also set. Hwy 16 Pow Wow edged Conehatta 3-2 and Tapahsha slipped past Beaver Dam in another 3-2 game to advance to the finals.
Only two games in the highly-anticipated men’s division have been played with nine teams still in the title hunt.
Women’s Division
Beaver Dam 2
Bok Cito 0
In Friday’s opener, Beaver Dam got one score from Nakita Henry in the first quarter and another from Courtney Steve in the second to knock off Bok Cito.
Natives 7
Conehatta Ohoyo 0
The Natives scored four times in the second quarter in Friday’s rout of Conehatta Ohoyo. Melinda Ben led the Natives with three scores, all coming in the second quarter.
The Natives also got two scores from Whitney Wesley and one each from Deonna Isaac and Brittny Morris.
Tali Ohoyo 3
Oka Homma Ohoyo 0
Tali Ohoyo got all three of its scores in the first quarter of Friday’s win over Oka Homma Ohoyo.
Mallory Shumake, Lequita King and Deaundrea Johnson each scored once for Tali Ohoyo.
Beaver Dam 1
Tucker 0
Beaver Dam took Saturday’s game by forfeit over Tucker.
Lady Warriors 4
Bihhi Ayasha 0
Johnita Conrad scored once in the first quarter and once in the fourth as the Lady Warriors took Saturday’s win over Bihhi Ayasha.
Samihah Alex added a score in the second quarter and Tiffany Thomas connected in the third quarter for the Lady Warriors.
Tali Ohoyo 3
Natives 2
Cheyanne Wallace snapped a 2-2 tie in sudden death as Tali Ohoyo advanced to the finals with Saturday’s win over the Natives.
Charla Isaac staked the Natives to a 1-0 lead in the first quarter, but Deaundrea Johnson and Casey Vaughn both tallied in the third period to put Tali Ohoyo up 2-1.
Whitney Wesley of the Natives forced overtime with a score in the fourth quarter.
Lady Warriors 7
Beaver Dam 0
The Lady Warriors got their second win Saturday by scoring twice in the first, second and fourth quarters in routing Beaver Dam.
Joni Bell Henry scored three times for the Lady Warriors as they advanced to Tuesday’s championship game. The Lady Warriors got two scores from Tiffany Thomas and one each from Lahoma Conrad and Johnita Conrad.
Men’s Division
Bok Cito 7
Tiak Hikiya 0
Lando Bell snapped a scoreless battle with a score from close range just six seconds before halftime and Bok Cito went on to whip Tiak Hikiya with six second half scores in Saturday’s first-round contest.
Six different players scored for Bok Cito in the second half. Cain Chickaway, Rusty Jim and Ricky Willis scored in the third quarter with Garrison Joe, Michael Morris and Elijah Jimmie hitting the post in the fourth quarter.
Tucker 7
Goat Ranch 2
Tucker jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead Saturday and led 7-0 before Galen John got both of Goat Ranch’s scores in the final six minutes of the game. Goat Ranch was making its first appearance in the World Series.
Corey Bell led Tucker with three goals, one in each of the first three quarters.
Darren Charlie started the scoring for Tucker less than five minutes into the game with Bell getting the next three scores.
The final Tucker scores came from Jerome Steve, Vincent Jefferson and Tyler Willis.
Men’s Over 35 Division
Hwy 16 Pow Wow 3
Conehatta 2
Harlan Bell scored with 6:10 left in the fourth quarter to snap a 2-2 tie as Hwy 16 Pow Wow took Friday’s contest over Conehatta.
Conehatta led 1-0 at halftime behind a first quarter score from Craig Anderson.
Conehatta got a score from Greg Shoemake, while Hwy 16 Pow Wow answered with two scores from Antonio Thomas as the third quarter ended in a 2-2 stalemate.
Tapahsha 3
Beaver Dam 2
Sebastian Lewis scored with seven minutes left in the third quarter to put Tapahsha up 3-1 and the winners held on to advance to Tuesday’s championship game with Hwy 16 Pow Wow.
Randy Jimmie gave Beaver Dam a 1-0 lead in the first quarter, but Deric Sam scored for Tapahsha in the second and third quarters to give Tapahsha a 2-1 lead.
Following Lewis’ score, Jimmie tallied again with six minutes remaining to cut the gap to 3-2.
