Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Parker of Meridian announce the engagement of their daughter, Dr. Shana Demetri Parker of Nashville, Tenn., to Ver-Non T. Wakefield, of Nashville, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wakefield of Central, S.C.

The wedding will be held Saturday, April 14, 2007, at 1:30 p.m. at Saint Joseph Catholic Church.

Miss Parker is the granddaughter of Bernice R. Pringle.

The bride-elect graduated summa cum laude with her doctorate of pharmacy degree from Xavier University of Louisiana in 2001. She is a 1995 highest honors graduate of Meridian High School.

While at Xavier, she was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Dr. Parker is employed as a pharmacist by the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System in Nashville.

Mr. Wakefield is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Paul Oglesby Sr. of Central, S.C. and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Wakefield of Seneca, S.C.

The bridegroom-elect received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Southern Wesleyan University and a master’s degree in organizational management from the University of Phoenix.

Mr. Wakefield is employed as a quality manager for a defense contractor and ordnance manufacturer in Nashville.

A reception will be held at St. Patrick’s Family Life Center following the ceremony.
