Services for Mary B. McDonald will be held today at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Meridian with the Rev. Dr. Zachary Operton officiating. Burial will be in Cage Cemetery in Cuba, Ala. Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. McDonald, 68, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.

She was born on Nov. 7, 1939, in Cuba, Ala. to Nellie Brunson and John Henry Reed.

Survivors include her children, Mari A. Brunson, Martha McDonald, Nancy L. McDonald Rankin and her husband, Bruce, Lena McDonald Pruitt and her husband, Michael, Betty McDonald, Mary R. McDonald, Lisa Brunson, Robert L. Brunson and his wife, Brenda, Fredrick McDonald and Dennis McDonald; grandchildren, Briana Brunson, Lakisha McDonald, Nancy S. McDonald, Catrina McDonald, Beunca McDonald and Christopher McDonald; siblings, Robert Lee Brunson, Ella Pearl Walker and Dorothy Jean Huston and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a god-daughter, Keosha Smith.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Nellie Brunson; husband, Curtis L. McDonald; brothers, Billy Ray Arrington, Lee Roy Brunson, and Earnest Brunson and sisters, Della Pearl Cullins and Mary Nell Brunson.

West Monroe, La. — Services for Lisa Roseanne Crum, will be held at Today at 10 a.m. at Mulhearn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Philip Bedenbender officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Ms. Crum, 35, of Mobile, Ala., formerly of West Monroe, died on Thursday, August 16, 2007 in Mobile, AL. She attended West Monroe High School but graduated from Baker High in Mobile, Ala. She attended Faulkner College and Bishop State College where she received her nursing degree. She has been a registered nurse for 13 years.

Survivors include her parents, John Carlton and Stephanie Susan Crum; brother, Jeffrey C. Crum and his wife, April; nephews, Jared Crum, and Jacob Crum; a niece, Micah Crum; and several cousins, aunts, uncles, and other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Philip Bedenbender, Jr., Levi Chavis, Joshua Younse, Charles Barrentine, Joseph Waits, and A. L. Cole.

Visitation will be today one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Hazel Denton Floore

Artist



Services for Hazel Denton Floore will be held today at 11 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Barker Cemetery in Marion.

Ms. Floore, 91, of Marion, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, at H.C. Watkins Memorial Hospital in Quitman. She was a talented artist and homemaker. She was a member of Marion Methodist Church and was a lifelong resident of Marion and the vicinity. She was descended, on her mother’s side, from a prominent Marion antebellum family that included notable early Methodist ministers.

She will be remembered as an imaginative, outgoing person, who was interesting and pleasing to be around. She was talented artistically, with many beautiful paintings to her credit, and was also skilled at the business of household design arrangement. Over the years, all of her family has enjoyed the benefits of her work.

She was a wonderful cook, who enjoyed preparing and serving food for her family and friends. Good food well prepared and beautifully served was her norm. Few people who knew her, would not be aware that she was such a great lady.

Survivors include her brother, Charles M. Denton of Shorewood, Ill., sisters, Marie Mosley of Vicksburg and Elise Thompson of Meridian; her son, John B. Harvey Jr.; grandchildren, Heather Harvey of New Orleans; and David Turner of Mabelville, Ark. and great-granddaughters, Morgan Weibelt and Emily Starke of New Orleans and Bethany Turner of Mabelville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert F. Denton and Ursula Meador; husbands, John Broach Harvey Sr. and Jefferson Hosea Floore and an infant daughter, Sadie Harvey.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

PHILADELPHIA — Services for Annie Ruth Savell will be held today at 1 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Bishop officiating. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery in Neshoba County.

Mrs. Savell, 85, died Sunday, August 19, 2007, at Neshoba County Nursing Home in Philadelphia.

Visitation will be today at 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

PHILADELPHIA — Services for Winfred H. “Pete” Edwards Sr. will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at John E. Stephens Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Edwards officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery.

Mr. Edwards, 83, of Jackson, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his daughters, Mable Sauls, Denese Malsonneuve and Teresa Pierce; sons, John Richardson, Robert Edwards and Junior Edwards; six siblings; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

NEWTON — Services for Gertrude “Trudy” Pouncey will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church in Enterprise with the Revs. Steve Pouncey and Roger Ivey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Pouncey, 89, of Enterprise, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, in her home. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She will be remembered as one who loved her family and working in her flower gardens.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Peavy and her husband, John; her son, the Rev. Steve Pouncey and his wife, Debbie; grandchildren, Suzanne Whitlock and her husband, Chris, Leisa Cunningham and her husband, Jerry, Michael Peavy and his wife, Kelli; great-grandchildren, Heather Cunningham, Samantha Whitlock, Alicia Peavy, Breanna Cunningham, Jami Whitlock, Jacob Cunningham, Olivia Peavy and Madeline Peavy, all of Enterprise and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, R.C. Pouncey, two sisters and two brothers.

Pallbearers will be Elliott Richardson, Bob Boggan, Terry Boyette, Michael Ivey, Bob Bickham, Ras Jones, Curt Pouncey and Terry Wayne Simpson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Pouncey, Alvin Pouncey and Don Pouncey.

Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home and Wednesday 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.

Mr. Vrazel, 50, died Sunday, August 19, 2007 at Laird Hospital in Union.

PHILADELPHIA — Services for Mary Kilgore will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Sandtown United Methodist Church in Neshoba County with the Revs. Chris Vowell and Jeff Switzer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. McClain-Hays Funeral Service, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Kilgore, 75, died Monday, August 20, 2007 in her home.

Stanley Rathbun



QUITMAN — Services for Stanley “Stan” Rathbun will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wright’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Stonewall Cemetery.

Mr. Rathbun, 58, of Forestville, Calif., died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007, in his home. He was born on Oct. 16, 1948, in Saginaw, Mich., and grew up and lived most of his life in Stonewall. He moved with his wife and children to Forestville, in October 1989.

He graduated from Quitman High School in 1967 and attended Jones County Junior College. While growing up and living in Stonewall, he was an active member of Stonewall First Baptist Church and Enterprise Baptist Church. In California, he was an active member of Graton First Baptist Church and served on the pastor search committee.

He changed careers in California and became a line-haul truck driver with Conway Freight, where he remained for more than 18 years. He loved driving the 18 wheelers and loved pulling doubles. He loved to share his “on the road” stories with friends and family. His family and dear friends will miss his humor. There is a very unique bond that was developed amongst the line haul night drivers and he will be greatly missed by all of them.

Survivors include his wife, Danielle of Forestville; his children, Tara and Justin, of Forestville; a sister, Carole Moseley and her husband, Lavelle, of Meridian; nephew, Randy Oglesby of Meridian; great-nephew, Kyle Oglesby of Meridian; mother-in-law, Doris Johnston of Forestville; aunt, Kathleen Heber of Enterprise and several cousins in Mississippi, Texas, Michigan and Alaska.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Bob” and Pauline “Polly” Rathbun and a nephew, Barry Oglesby.

Memorials may be made to the Cancer Research Foundation.

Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Services for Virgie Pace will be held Wednesday at noon at Friendship Baptist Church in Collinsville with the Rev. Chester Davis officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Pace, 76, of Meridian, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2007, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.

Visitation will be today from 7 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.



Annie Hand Betts



A private memorial service will be held at a later date for Annie Hand Betts, 96, of Meridian, who died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, at Heartfelt Hospice in Meridian. She donated her body to the University of Mississippi Medical School.

Survivors include her children, Percy Elbert Betts Jr., of Pasadena, Calif., Diana Moseley and her husband, Dick, and Barbara Gough and her husband, Ronald, all of Meridian; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy E. “Cap” Betts Sr. and her parents, George F. and Leila Clayton Hand.
