Meridian saw a new addition to its industrial park earlier this year, and with it, over 200 new jobs. Tower Automotive, which assembles parts for the Nissan plant in Canton, had its official ribbon cutting in June.

EHS engineer Robert Wilson said that the plant has the second largest number of robotic machines in the state, but credited the success of the plant to its workers.

The plant, which became operational in 2006, but did not officially open until 2007, has continued to be a huge asset to Lauderdale County, both in its creation of jobs and as an example to other industries that might consider coming here.
