Bettie Bearden

PHILADELPHIA — Services for Bettie “Betsy” Bearden will be held today at 11 a.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dennis Duvall and Lawrence Runnels officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery in Philadelphia.
Mrs. Bearden, 60, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian.
She was born in Leland and had been a longtime resident of Philadelphia. She was a member of North Calvary Baptist Church.
She was an avid homemaker and was well known for her baking of delicious cakes and pastries. She was a cat lover and collector of all kinds of cat paraphernalia.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Bobby Bearden of Philadelphia; son, James “Jimmy”Bearden and his wife, Mandy, of Meridian; grandchildren, Katlin, Tyler, and Emma Bearden all of Meridian.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Herrington and mother, Winnie Cade Herrington both from Louisville.
Rex Michael Cook

PHILADELPHIA — Services for Rex Michael Cook will be held today at 3 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dennis Duvall and Kim Poe officiating. Burial will be in Sandtown Cemetery in Neshoba County.
Mr. Cook, 44, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, in his home.
Frances Aycock Johnson

NEWTON — Services for Frances Aycock Johnson will be held today at 3 p.m. at Decatur United Methodist Church with the Revs. Johnny Crosby and H. G. Winstead officiating. Burial will be in Newton County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Newton County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Johnson, 80, of New Albany, formerly of Decatur, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Union County in New Albany. She was a retired school teacher who taught for more than 30 years. Most of that time was spent teaching third and fourth grades. She last taught in the Newton County School System in Decatur. After she retired, she was an avid quilter and a charter member of the Mississippi Quilt Association and the local Busy Hands Quilting Group. She enjoyed crocheting and reading. She was an active member of the Progressive Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was an active member of Decatur United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan Johnson Taylor and her husband, the Rev. Bruce L. Taylor, of New Albany; grandchildren, Amanda Taylor Nichols and her husband, Jody, of Brandon and Benjamin Andrew Taylor of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; a sister, Jo Ann Thomas and her husband, O.G. Thomas, of New Albany and her brother, Harold Aycock of Greenfield, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer H. Johnson; an infant son, Duane H. Johnson; parents, Fair and May Aycock; a brother, Cecil Aycock.
Pallbearers will be Harold Johnson, Amos Johnson, Jerry Johnson, Byron Johnson, Doyle McMullan, Larry Jones, David Hopkins, and Sonny Hopkins. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Busy Hands Quilters.
Visitation will be today from 1 p.m. until service time at the church.
Troy W. Stamper

Services for Troy W. Stamper will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Davey Wilkinson officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery in Decatur.
Mr. Stamper, 54, of Marion, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Lauderdale United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Mississippi Private School Officiating Association. He was retired from Delco Remy-Delphi and was a United Auto Workers Representative.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Arrington Stamper of Marion; a son, Chad Tibbetts of Collinsville; step-children, Tommy Ainsworth and Shannon Ainsworth, both of Meridian and Tammy Arrington and Cory Taylor, both of Marion; his sister, Linda Stamper of Shreveport, La.; brothers, Eddie Stamper and his wife, Debbie of Decatur and Steve Stamper and his wife, Tammy, of Union; his special friend and his dog, Walter and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marzell and Dot Stamper.
Pallbearers will be Terry Williams, Al Jones, Corky Null, Kenneth Craven, Howard Lang, Tommy Price, Chris Thompson and Donnie Slayton.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Arthur Alvin Adams
ALENTOWN, Pa. — Services for Arthur Alvin Adams “King Arthur” will be held Friday from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. at St. Joseph Church Kerher Hall in Alentown.
Mr. Adams, 67, died on Wednesday October 24, 2007. He born April 12, 1940, to Norman and Lula Adams. He was a longtime resident and native of Meridian.
Survivors include his daughters, Adriene Ann Adams Shelby and her husband Rodney, April Adams Morris and her husband Brandon, Sherelle Grogan; his sons, Arthur Aundre Adams, and Arfonzo Alex Adams; grandchildren, Austin Adams, Brandi Morris, and A’trell Grogan.
Jack Watson
NEWTON — Services for Jack Watson will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Shawn Croft officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Clark’s Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Watson, 84, of Newton, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Jackson.
