Essie B. Cunningham



Services for Essie B. Cunningham will be held today at noon at Eighth Avenue Church of God. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cunningham, 94, died on June 28, 2007, at Howard University Hospital. She was born in Lauderdale County and attended the Lauderdale Public Schools and completed her education in Wechsler High School. She also completed courses in cosmetology and was licensed as a beautician. She was married in 1942 to Lyman Cunningham, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Cunningham was a member of the Eighth Avenue Church of God, where she served as youth Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School worker, church secretary, education director for the Women of the Church of God, and Secretary of the Board of Christian Education. She also worked with the Meals on Wheels program.

Survivors include her sister, Lee Esther Williams of Silver Spring, Md; three nieces, Jessie Mae Harrison and her husband, Boyd, of Detroit, Mich., and their children; Louise McLendon of Grand Terrace, Calif., and her children; and Jean Currie Church of Washington, D.C., and her children; two nephews, O. C. Hickman and his wife, Aurelia, of Lancaster, Calif., and Charles E. Hickman and his wife, Barbara, of Long Beach, Calif.; family friend, Freda Dorse; the Rev. Glenn Hall and Members of the Eighth Avenue Church of God; and other relatives and close friends.

Visitation will be today one hour prior to the service at the church.



Adeodat Bernard Navaille



Services for Adeodat Bernard Navaille will be held today at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Services also will be also be held today from 5 p.m.– 8 p.m., at Barham Funeral Home.

Mr. Navaille, 74, of Carmel, Calif., died Friday, June 29, 2007.

He was born on August 20, 1932, in New Orleans, and came to the Carmel area in 1976.

He will be remembered as a fine man and he had no vices. As a young man, Mr. Navaille joined the U. S. Army where he spent two years in Germany before retuning home to start a family and career with the New Orleans Fire Department. He will be remembered for his faith in Christ, love of life, and devotion to his family, he was a man of particular quality and belief.

Survivors include his children, Terri Shapiro of Carmel, Calif., Kevin Navaille of Seaside, Calif., Michelle Smith of Discovery Bay, Calif., Christie Farnum of Cupertino, Calif., and Andre Navaille of Carmel; a sister, Gloria McLaurin of Houston, Texas and a brother, Reginald Navaille of Madisonville, La.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Oliver Heaviside.

He was preceded in death by Allie Mae Rawson Navaille.



Leroy Vance



PHILADELPHIA — Services for Leroy Vance will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Old Mars Hill Church in Winston County with the Rev. Lonoia Burks officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. McClain-Hays Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Vance, 45, died Wednesday, July 4, 2007 in his home.

Visitation will be today, July 7, 2007, 5 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.



G.C. Chisolm



Services for G.C. “Jack” Chisolm will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Corinth Baptist Church in Kemper County. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Chisolm, 72, of DeKalb, died Friday, July 6, 2007, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.

Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

BUTLER, Ala. — Services for Lois Turner Todd will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Bumpers Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dennis Kennedy and Levi Griffin officiating. Burial will be in Lusk Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Todd, 74, of Butler, died Thursday, July 5, 2007, at Riley Hospital in Meridian, Miss.

Survivors include her daughter, Ann Baxter; a son, Jerry Todd, three sisters and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother and two children.

Visitation will be Sunday from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Zion Jade’ Dixon



PHILADELPHIA — Services for Zion Jade’ Dixon will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. John Stephens officiating. Burial will be in Old Mt. Zion Cemetery in Carthage. John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Infant Dixon, one month old, of Meridian, died Thursday, July 5, 2007, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Survivors include her parents, Ashley Dixon and A.J. Wright Jr.; two sisters; grandparents, great-grandmother and several other relatives.

Visitation will be today beginning at 1 p.m. at the home of Eric and Sarah Dixon.

Services for Jimmy Emerson will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Missionary Baptist Church in Collinsville with the Rev. John Griggs officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Emerson, 57, of Meridian, died Wednesday, July 4, 2007, at Riley Hospital.

Visitation will be Sunday from 6 p.m.- 7 p.m. at the funeral home.



W.A. Todd



NEWTON — Services for W.A. “Dub” Todd were held Friday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with the Revs. Thomas Laird, Winnie McMahon and Leon Everett officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. Newton County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Todd, 71, of Hickory, died Wednesday, July 4, 2007, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian. He was a self-employed carpenter. He will be remembered as one who loved his church, his family, fishing and camping.

Survivors include his wife of more than 52 years, Janie Bennett Todd of Hickory; sons, David Todd and his wife, Ann, of Chunky, Dewayne Todd and his wife, Lisa, of Collinsville and Danny Todd and his wife, Karen, of Hickory; a brother, Terry Todd and his wife, Dianne; sisters, Ellene Jones, Geraldine Taylor and her husband, Leon; grandchildren, Josh Todd and his wife, Leah, Travis Todd and his wife, Brenda, Danny Todd and his wife, Mallory, Tiffany Griffith and her husband, Bryan, Keri Knost and her husband, Josh; great-grandchildren, Taylor Todd, Tanna Todd, Jolee Todd and Laynee Todd, Kayela Griffith, Christopher Griffith, Kaiden Griffith and Jace Knost; an aunt, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Bessie Rigdon Todd; a sister, Waudene Pugh; brothers, G.W. Todd, Wayne Todd and a grandson, Dustan Todd.

Memorials may be made to the Gideons and the American Cancer Society.

Pallbearers were Arleigh Allen, Bobby Caldwell, Larry Crader, John Todd, Raymond McMillan and Mike McNeil. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Todd, Travis Todd, Danny Todd Jr., Bryan Griffith, Josh Knost, Taylor Todd, Christopher Griffith.



Arthur Ben Caraway



GULFPORT — Services for Arthur Ben Caraway were held Friday, June 22, 2007, at 10 a.m. at Riemann Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Quitman Cemetery at 2 p.m.

Mr. Caraway, 66, of Poplarville, formerly of Quitman, died Wednesday, June 20, 2007, in Poplarville.
