Country coming to Meridian

Web sites for country music artists Kellie Pickler and Rodney Atkins have them listed as coming to Meridian next month for two separate events.

Pickler’s tour lineup has her listed at the Lauderdale County Agri-Center for Thursday, May 22, for radio station WOKK’s 50th Anniversary Celebration.

Also Rodney Atkins, whose monster country hit “Cleaning My Gun” is heard 1,000 times a day when listening to any country radio station, is listed as coming to Meridian on Friday, May 23, for the Down Town Throw Down event. Check his Web site at www.rodneyatkins.com.



New music on the way



Other music news from the world of cyberspace includes the late Warren Zevon’s son, Jordan Zevon’s release of his debut solo album “Insides Out,” due to hit stores April 15.

Another music legend offspring has a solo project on the way. Jakob Dylan’s new site: jakobdylan. com has been launched.

The site has news and tour dates and a stream of new songs from The Wallflowers front man’s first solo album effort, “Seeing Things,” scheduled for release on June 10.

We were notified recently that “Legends of American Music: George Jones,” a three-CD boxed set highlighting the Country Music Hall of Famer’s 53-year recording career, will be released May 20 by Time Life.

It’s a 60-song retrospective that begins with his 1955 chart debut, “Why Baby Why,” and it includes his biggest hits and duets with Tammy Wynette, Melba Montgomery, Merle Haggard, James Taylor, Johnny Paycheck and more.

And all you High School Musical fans will be happy to know shooting is suppose to start this month for “High School Musical 3: Senior Year.”

Salt Lake City, Utah School District spokesperson Jason Olsen told the Associated Press Wednesday that shooting will start at the end of the month. The project is slated to cost $13 million.
