Two separate, but related, accidents in Kemper County Thursday night left two people injured and damaged three vehicles.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the accidents at 9:39 p.m. Thursday on Highway 39, 5 miles south of DeKalb.
A northbound Chevy Traverse drove off road and overturned, resting partially in the two-lane highway, according to MHP Sgt. Andy West.
West said the driver of that vehicle had injuries that were not life threatening and was taken to Rush Foundation Hospital.
A southbound Toyota Corolla stopped to assist the driver of the Traverse and a northbound Saturn collided with the Corolla, West said.
The driver of the Saturn suffered non-life threatening injuries and was also taken to Rush Foundation Hospital, West said.
Initial reports said that a 4-month-old passenger in the Saturn also suffered injuries but West said the child was uninjured.
The cause of the Traverse’s accident is under investigation.
