70 YEARS OF PANCAKES

Dreary weather didn’t stop pancake lovers, like Nancy McCary and her granddaughter Macie, from stopping by the Temple Theatre Ballroom in Meridian for the 70th annual Pancake Jubilee Tuesday. The event was a fundraiser sponsored by the Downtown Optimist Club, with proceeds benefitting numerous civic, scholastic and athletic organizations.

Club spokesman Paul Tarver said about 2000 tickets had been sold by mid-afternoon; the rainy weather actually drew people to the jubilee, where they caught up with friends over plates of comfort food: pancakes, sausage, syrup, milk, soda and coffee.
