Auditions for “Disney’s Little Mermaid,” Meridian Community College’s Arts & Letters spring musical, will be held Wednesday, said Dr. Todd Brand, Arts & Letters Series coordinator.
The auditions get under way at 5:30 p.m. in the McCain Theater. Brand noted auditions are open to community residents ranging in ages from 6 to up. Actors who are auditioning for lead parts are asked to come prepared to sing 16 bars.
The tale explores the magical underwater kingdom and the beautiful young mermaid, Ariel, who longs to leave her ocean home – and her fins – behind and live in the world above. But first, she’ll have to defy her father, King Triton, make a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, and convince the handsome Prince Eric that she’s the girl whose enchanting voice he’s been seeking.
Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved stories, Disney’s The Little Mermaid is an enchanting look at the sacrifices we all make for love and acceptance.
“Disney’s Little Mermaid” will be presented April 27-29 at 7 p.m. and April 30, at 2 p.m. in McCain Theater.
