First Presbyterian Church of Meridian celebrated the completion of its Student Ministries Center with a ribbon cutting on Sunday following the morning worship service.

The administration building was renovated over the last 18 months to add a Student Ministries Center on the top floors. The new addition to the west side of the church’s administration building, will house both the middle school and high school ministries, along with a break room/kitchen for serving meals. It has access to the main sanctuary building.

This is the second phase of construction for First Presbyterian, after the completion of the first phase in 2010 of the education building, which included a new children’s ministry wing. The church’s master plan includes a third and final phase, which will be a new fellowship hall.

The church’s senior pastor is Dr. Rhett G. Payne III. Weekly services include Sunday School at 9:15 a.m., followed by JavaRama Coffee Café at 10 a.m., then Worship Service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday’s “Gathering” includes a family night meal starting at 5:30 p.m., along with a program that concludes at 6:45 p.m.

Anderson volunteers

Anderson Regional Health System volunteers give their time and goods to help the hospital. Volunteer Auxiliary members recently presented Anderson Regional Medical Center Emergency Department with a donation of coloring books, crayons, stickers and suckers.

The donations help meet the needs in the local ER that are sometimes overlooked or forgotten.
