An officer from the Philadelphia Police Department died responding to a call early Saturday morning.
Leann Simpson, 23, died as a result of a single car crash around 2 a.m. on West Beacon Street, according to Philadelphia Police Chief Grant Myers.
Myers said sheriff’s deputies were on a traffic stop on Highway 16, and after dispatchers could not make contact with the deputies, they requested police to check on them. Simpson was responded to that call when she died.
Simpson was on the job for 15 months and the cause of the accident is under investigation.
