• 9-11 a.m. – The Alzheimer’s Foundation will be offering a free memory screen at New Beginnings Adult Day Care Services, 235 69th Ave., Meridian. If you wish to book a specific time please contact Ruth Sanders, RN at 228-219-2504.
• 10 a.m. – The public is invited to attend East Mississippi Community College’s annual tribute to the military during “Proud to be an American” in the Lyceum auditorium on the Golden Triangle campus. The theme this year is “Women in the Military.” The guest speaker will be retired U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Rita Felton, who is an AFJROTC instructor at Columbus High School. No cost to attend.
• 10:30 a.m. – Meridian Community College will host its Veterans Day program in the College’s Graham Gymnasium. Community veterans and their families will be recognized as will MCC students, faculty, and staff members who are veterans at this ceremony.
The theme is “Honoring All Who Served.” Keynote speaker First Sgt. Antonio Marquez. A reception will follow the program.
• 4:30 p.m. – K-6th Grade STEM (Makeables Robot Masks) at the Meridian-Lauderdale County Public Library.
• 7-8 p.m. – At The Max – Walter Anderson: Realizations of an Artist – a one-hour biography, this film traces the extraordinary life of fiercely independent Mississippi artist Walter Inglis Anderson. $5 suggested donation.
Friday, Nov. 9
• 9 a.m. – Southeast Lauderdale High School will have its annual Veteran and Military Appreciation Day in the Southeast Lauderdale High School Gym. All veterans and military presently serving are invited to attend our program. A Thanksgiving lunch will be provided free of charge following the program.
