ON THE GO: Music and Christmas events provide weekend entertainment

If you want to see a variety of talented people from the local area at their finest, the Mississippi Arts + Entertainment Experience’s Christmas Cabaret is scheduled from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Max, 2155 Front St. in Meridian

The holiday variety showcase will feature many different talents in the performing arts suitable for the whole family. Festivities will include hot chocolate and Christmas fun. The event is free and open to the public.

The Max, also, will host its December Brown Bag Lunch at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, featuring Aaron Windham on classical guitar. The event is free and open to the public.

“The Kings of the Queen,” a music showcase, is scheduled at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Temple Theatre in Meridian. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Free parking will be available in the city parking garage located across the street from the Temple, which is located at 2320 8th St. Concessions will be available and admission is $10 per person.

Santa’s Christmas Factory has extended its hours to day time, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Mississippi Industrial Heritage Museum located at 1808 4th St., Meridian. While Santa’s at the North Pole finishing last-minute details, his elves are busy keeping fun alive at the factory. Admission is $5 per person with children under two admitted free.

Time is running out to see the 50 beautifully decorated Christmas trees at Merrehope. The display runs through Dec. 29. Guided tours are $10 per person and run from 9-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sundays. Merrehope is located at 905 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
