Fond memories of Jimmie Rodgers Museum

The Jimmie Rodgers Museum is closed and is being moved to the Meridian Railroad Museum. Today, May 4, as I locked the door, I remembered all the fun and wonderful experiences I’ve had meeting and interacting with all the visitors from the United States and from all over the world. That has stopped for now.

What a grand time Ms. Susan Parker and I have had there as the tour guides for the museum.

As I think of the closing, I think of the new location of the museum with its easy access for all the Jimmie Rodgers fans. Susan and I have had the opportunity that many will never experience – meeting people from all over the world. Yes, we have had a ball.

Many thanks to Betty Lou Jones, past president of the Jimmie Rodgers Foundation, Greg Hatcher and Stacy Davis for all your great support. I also thank the new Jimmie Rodgers Foundation president, Ed Snodgrass, and the current foundation members for all their hard work. I wish the foundation and the Jimmie Rodgers Museum the very best in its new location.

It has been a great ride with Jimmie Rodgers, the father of country music, and Ms. Elsie McWilliams, the mother of country music, and the sister-in-law of Jimmie Rodgers
