U.S. Senate candidate Howard Sherman is holding a campaign kickoff party from 6-9 p.m. Saturday on Meridian City Hall lawn.

Guests are invited to bring their own chairs or blankets. Music will be provided and each guest will receive one food and drink ticket. Alcoholic drinks may be purchased.

The event is sponsored by Sherman, his wife, Sela Ward, and Meridian Mayor Percy Bland.

Sherman is one of six Democrats entered in a primary to determine a challenger to U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, a Republican. The others are David Baria, Jensen Bohren, Jerone Garland, Victor G. Maurice Jr. and Omeria Scott. Richard Warren Boyanton is challening Wicker in the Republican primary.
