He appeared Thursday in Meridian municipal court. He was arrested Wednesday evening.

Lloyd, 18, died just before 9 p.m. Monday in the 3700 block of Paulding Street in Meridian. He suffered a gunshot wound to the back, Meridian Sgt. Dareall Thompson said.

“We do believe we have the person responsible for the death,” Thompson said.

Thompson said that Wooten and Lloyd, also of Meridian, knew each other and the drive-by shooting charge came after talking to witnesses on the scene. Thompson declined to say whether Wooten or another person drove the car used in the crime, saying it’s an ongoing investigation that could yield more arrests.

“Unfortunately it was something that could have been prevented,” Thompson said. “When someone is upset… guns are not the answer. They’re made to protect.”
