Thursday law enforcement action yields multiple arrests

The East Mississippi Drug Task Force on Thursday joined with other law enforcement agencies in a city-wide action resulting in seized drugs and multiple arrests.

In a news release, Lauderdale County Sheriff Ward Calhoun said federal, state and local law enforcement took part in the action, with the Drug Task Force seizing seven grams of cocaine, more than six grams of methamphetamine and a firearm.

The action also resulted in a felony arrest for possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute, two felony arrests for possession of methamphetamine and a felony arrest for felon in possession of a firearm. Two arrests for DUI were also made, and three fugitives were captured.

“The East Mississippi Drug Task Force and the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department are working diligently to reduce criminal activity in Lauderdale County,” he said.
