Though spring is still a few weeks away, Ward 4 Councilwoman Romande Walker has organized three days of fun and informative activities for families to celebrate its arrival.
“Schools will be out for spring break, so it’s the perfect time for the community to come together for some good, clean, family-oriented fun,” Walker said.
The Spring Fling Celebration will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at three different locations on the following dates:
— March 9: Frank Berry Courts
— March 11: Sowashee Courts
— March 13: Carousel Place
Community groups, organizations and individuals will provide a variety of activities, information, food, and more. Offerings include art, dance, bouncy houses, sack races, skilled sports, information booths, and refreshments.
On Wednesday, March 11, a basketball competition will be held at Sowashee Courts, featuring a friendly game between the Meridian Police Department and the Meridian Fire Department.
“Come out and cheer for your favorite department,” Walker said.
Participation in Spring Fling is not limited to residents of the event locations.
“This is a community event, and we want everyone to come join us,” she said. “It’s a great way to meet people from all over.”
