Meridian Public School District wins Leadership in Governance Award

The Meridian Public School District was honored with the prestigious Leadership in Governance Award during the Celebration Luncheon at the Mississippi School Boards Association Annual Conference on Feb. 25.

 

This distinguished award recognized a superintendent and school board who exemplified outstanding leadership, strategic governance, and a steadfast commitment to academic excellence. It was presented to a district led by a full-time superintendent who had provided stable leadership for at least 10 consecutive years, ensuring continuity and long-term success for students.

 

To qualify for the Leadership in Governance Award, districts were required to meet the following criteria:

• High Academic Performance

• Superintendent Tenure of at least 10 consecutive years

• Strong Governance

 

The award highlighted the collaborative partnership between the school board and superintendent, underscoring the impact of effective governance and consistent leadership on student achievement and district growth.

 

“This award represents the power of unity, vision, and an unwavering commitment to our students,” said Superintendent Amy Carter. “Strong governance and consistent leadership create the foundation for academic excellence. I am incredibly proud of our School Board and district team for their dedication to ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed.”

 

The MSBA Annual Conference was held Feb. 23–25, at the Sheraton Flowood The Refuge Hotel & Conference Center.

 

District leaders accepted the award during the Celebration Luncheon, joining school districts from across Mississippi in celebrating excellence in educational leadership.
