Mississippi Children’s Museum-Meridian to host Dr. Seuss’ Silly Birthday Celebration

MERIDIAN, Miss. — Families are invited to celebrate reading, creativity and playful learning at Dr. Seuss’ Silly Birthday Celebration at Mississippi Children’s Museum – Meridian on Saturday, Feb. 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 

One of the museum’s most popular annual events, the celebration honors children’s author Dr. Seuss with activities, story time and interactive experiences designed to inspire a love of reading.

 

Activities will take place throughout the day and include crafts, games and special guest appearances. A birthday sing-along and cake will be held at noon.

 

Event highlights include:

— Birthday sing-along and cake, noon

— “Oh, the Things You’ll Paint” with visiting artist Brejenn Allen, 10

a.m. – 3 p.m.

— Guest author Ginny Walker Shurlds, author of Mississippi State From A to Z, 2 p.m.

All-day activities:

— Gak’s Garden Games

— Dr. Seuss scavenger hunt

— Face painting

— Oobleck making

— Seuss character photo opportunities

— Seuss-themed STEM activities

— Instrument petting zoo with the Meridian Symphony Orchestra

 

Prior to Saturday’s celebration, the museum will host a special Field Trip Friday experience for students.

 

Admission is $10 per guest and free for MCM members. Costumes are encouraged.
