First State Bank welcomes Hurd and Skinner to Quitman branch

QUITMAN, Miss.—First State Bank has expanded its lending team in Quitman with the addition of Stephanie Hurd as assistant vice president and branch manager and Lowery Skinner as consumer lender. The new hires are part of bank’s commitment to business growth and community development in Clarke County.
Hurd brings extensive banking experience and strong community ties to her new role. Previously, she served in multiple positions at Magnolia State Bank in Heidelberg, including branch manager, loan officer, and loan assistant. A graduate of Quitman High School, she earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from Belhaven University and associate degrees from Pearl River Community College.

Lowery Skinner, a native of Waynesboro, earned a bachelor of Business Administration in finance from Mississippi State University’s College of Business. He is also a graduate of Jones College in Ellisville. Since joining First State Bank part-time in 2023, he has served as a loan operations assistant, credit analyst and management trainee. His experience across departments provides a strong foundation for serving consumer lending needs in the Quitman market.

First State Bank’s Quitman branch will host an open house reception on Thursday, March 5, at 310 S. Archusa Ave. in Quitman. The event will celebrate the new additions to the team, and all community members are invited to attend from noon to 2 p.m. for light hors d’oeuvres.
