Weather closures for Monday, Jan. 26

Meridian Public School District and Lauderdale County School District have cancelled Monday classes due to the winter storm. Rain and below freezing temperatures overnight are expected to impact travel throughout the county.
All classes and extracurricular activities for both districts have been called off.
Several colleges in the East Mississippi region area also cancelling in-person classes Monday.
East Mississippi Community College, East Central Community College and Meridian Community College have all announced campuses will be closed on Monday. All three institutions will operate virtually.
MCC students are encouraged to keep an eye on the weather and monitor the college’s social media for updates.
ECCC and EMCC student are asked to check Canvas for any assignments.
Decisions whether to open Tuesday will be made at a later date.
The Lauderdale County Government Center will also be closed Monday due to the weather. In a statement, county officials said regular hours will resume Tuesday.
The Salvation Army Meridian said its Client Choice Market will also be closed Monday, however a warming shelter will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for anyone needing a warm place to escape the cold. The Salvation Army is located at 1115 25th Ave.
