Drug Task Force arrests three while serving search warrants

The East Mississippi Drug Task Force arrested three people while serving two search warrants Thursday with help from the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department SWAT team.

 

In a news release, Lauderdale County Sherif Ward Calhoun said one of the search warrants was served at a home in the 3700 block of 10th Street, and the other was served at a home in the 2900 block of 13th Street.

 

Latoya Marsh, 39, is charged with sale of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a church and has bond set at $100,000.

 

Jerry Dewayne Brooks, 49, is charged with felon in possession of a firearm, sale of methamphetamine within 1,500 feet of a church, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute within 1,500 feet of a church, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute within 1,500 feet of a church, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute within 1,500 feet of a church, possession of spice with intent to distribute within 1,500 feet of a church and possession of oxycodone with intent to distribute within 1,500 feet of a church. Bond for Brooks is set at $700,000.

 

Charges with the enhancement for being in close proximity to a church or school can carry heavier penalties if suspects are convicted.

 

Also arrested was 51-year-old Marcus Crockett, who is charged with felon in possession of a firearm. His bond is set at $100,000.
