As the year-end giving deadline approaches on Dec. 31, The Salvation Army is asking the community in Meridian and surrounding counties to rally for neighbors who are entering the new year facing uncertainty and difficult choices—like food, utilities and a safe place to sleep.
“We recognize our community has many choices of who to support, and we hope they’ll consider The Salvation Army as a local partner in building a stronger community together,” said Sgt. Daniel Noland, commanding officer for The Salvation Army in Meridian. “Gifts made by Dec. 31 support local programs that serve Meridian and the surrounding counties—helping our neighbors take their next step toward stability and hope.”
Last year, The Salvation Army served 2,893 individuals and families in crisis. It currently provides food assistance, emergency financial assistance, utility assistance, youth programs, senior programs, and more.
“Our programs directly depend on local support—the funds raised here are what keep services available here. We truly can’t do it without the support of our community,” said Noland.
