The City of Meridian, in partnership with the Young Professionals of Meridian, will provide free trolley rides on New Year’s Eve for those attending the Young Professionals of Meridian New Year’s Eve Bash on the City Hall lawn in downtown Meridian.
“This is about taking care of people,” said Community Development Director Terrell Thompson. “We want everyone to enjoy the celebration while also making the smart choice at the end of the night. Partnering with Young Professionals of Meridian to provide a free ride home is one more way we can help keep our community safe.”
The initiative is a collaborative effort between the Meridian Police Department, Community Development, and the Young Professionals of Meridian, focused on proactive safety during a large downtown event.
“Our priority is keeping this celebration safe for everyone,” said Assistant Police Chief Dareall Thompson. “We encourage people to celebrate responsibly and take advantage of the free trolley if they need a ride home.”
City officials say the free trolley service reflects a shared commitment between the city and community partners to promote safety, responsibility, and care for one another as Meridian welcomes the new year.
