Meridian/Lauderdale County’s Keep Mississippi Beautiful affiliate was among honorees at the Keep Mississippi Beautiful Awards Ceremony, which was held this week in Jackson.
The local affiliate placed second in the KMB Partnership Award for Government. These awards recognize entities with achievements in beautification, recycling and litter cleanup and take action every day to improve and beautify their community environment.
The City of Meridian was recognized for implementing an aggressive policy to remove neglected and/or abandoned properties through its Code Enforcement Department. The city’s volunteer litter clean-up program Good Citizens Clean-up Day was recognized for its role in not only keeping the city’s neighborhoods litter-free, but also safer.
The Keep Mississippi Beautiful Awards Program recognizes the best of the best among its network of community-based affiliates, leading corporate partners and individual volunteers across the country who have committed to delivering cleaner, greener and more beautiful communities.
