The Highway 19 Walmart in Meridian found itself all dressed up Friday to celebrate its recently completed remodel. Walmart employees and community supporters were on hand to celebrate the milestone at a ribbon-cutting ceremony that included charity donations, refreshments and free giveaways for participants.

“I would like to thank our employees and the community for having patience while we worked on this remodel,” the store’s manager Precious Moore, told the crowd. “Though our doors were always open, I know it must have been frustrating during those 14 weeks, and I thank you for hanging with us.”

Walmart also recognized its community partnerships by presenting $6,000 in grants: $2,000 to Fellowship of Christian Athletes; $2,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of East Mississippi; and $2,000 to Meridian Public Schools.

The store, which opened in 1989, now has an extensively remodeled pharmacy, updated pickup locations and a reportedly more intuitive way to shop online. It’s located at 2400 Highway 19 North.
