Trinity Presbyterian Church on Friday sold its church property on Poplar Springs Drive to Covenant Church. Trinity, founded in 1950, will continue to meet at this location along with Covenant Church.
Covenant Church is a new Global Methodist congregation and has been co-locating with Trinity Presbyterian Church since October 2023. Trinity Presbyterian’s membership has been in decline, and Covenant Church needed a facility to house its rapidly growing congregation. In offering Covenant Church complete usage of its worship and education spaces in 2023, Trinity reaffirmed its commitment to the growth of God’s kingdom in Lauderdale County.
Covenant Church Trustee Chair Brandon Pratt said, “We are excited about this new chapter for our church. We will begin transforming the building to meet the needs of our congregation. Visible changes will be expanded parking for Sunday mornings, new roofs and windows and a new playground that will take shape in May to serve the many young families of our congregation. We are grateful to Trinity Presbyterian for their generosity and its impact on the future of Covenant Church.”
Trinity has established a Missions Fund from sale proceeds, which will be used to continue Trinity’s impact in Lauderdale County.
Trinity Presbyterian has been a mainstay in the community for 75 years through its work with many missions including special needs ministries, backpack buddies and the Trinity Dyslexia Center. The church’s annual Holiday Bazaar celebrated its final year last November.
Although a new congregation, Covenant Church is an active partner in community as well as international missions.
