It’s time again for one of Meridian’s longest-running charitable events – the Junior Auxiliary Charity Ball. The event is planned for Saturday, March 29, at the MSU Riley Center. Doors open at 6 p.m. and tickets are $75 each, available at https://one.bidpal.net/jadowntownderby.
The Junior Auxiliary is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides essential resources to children in the community through providing school uniforms, eye exams, school supplies, and hygiene kits, among others, said the ball’s chair, Caroline Ballou.
“Every dollar raised from the charity ball and silent auction directly supports these initiatives,” she said.
The 2025 Junior Auxiliary Charity Ball Queen and King are Melanie Mitchell and Wade Sims.
“Each year, our queen and king are selected by our members,” Ballou said. “This year, we are proud to honor Melanie Mitchell and Wade Sims, whose continuous efforts and dedication make a remarkable difference in our town.”
The theme for this year’s ball is “Downtown Derby – Roses & Revelry,” which is a Meridian twist on the Kentucky Derby. The dress code includes Derby-best formal attire; bowties and fascinators are heartily encouraged.
“It will be an exciting night of Roses & Revelry, full of fascinators and juleps for all attendees,” Ballou said. “We encourage our community to come together for a fabulous cause.”
The ball’s offerings include heavy hors d’oeuvres, mint juleps, a photo booth, a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle and live music from the Emerald Empire Band.
Interested parties can bid in the silent auction whether in attendance or not. Both in-person and online bidders will have the opportunity to bid at the auction and through online access. Guests may choose from artwork, apparel or a variety of experiences offered. Items are available for preview at https://one.bidpal.net/jadowntownderby.
All proceeds from the night are used to support and fulfill the needs and requirements of JA Meridian’s five service projects.
“The Junior Auxiliary Charity Ball is dedicated to shining a light on the growing needs of our youth, while fostering support for initiatives that make a real difference in our community,” Ballou added. “All proceeds from the evening will directly benefit JA’s five service projects.”
